In the world of the internet, there are a lot of strange new ideas and words. If you have taken that step of setting up your own web page, you already know what a “domain” is. Basically a domain is that phrase used to find you on the internet. For example, if you set up a web page to see your modern art, you can create a name like, joesmodernart.com and people can find you on the internet that way. So in this example, joesmodernart.com is your “domain name”.

For the internet to work, though, only one person or business can have joesmodernart.com for their domain name. That unique name is like your phone number online. Anyone, anywhere in the world that goes to their browser and keys in www.joesmodern.art.com will find your site on the internet. So to keep things orderly, domain names are sold on a first come first serve basis.

But the problem comes when someone learns to abuse the system. The internet and setting up web pages has become big business. So, as with any situation where there is money to be made or a crime to be committed, the internet has attracted it’s share of criminals and people who want to take advantage of honest people.

In the case of domain names, the crime that has causes endless grief for legitimate web site owners is called “cyber squatting”. Cyber squatters take advantage of the fact that there are ways to “steal” someone’s domain name. The idea is to hijack someone’s domain name so they have to buy it back from the squatter. That approach is similar to a hostage situation. There are many variations on the cyber squatter formula for stealing commerce from good honest internet businesses including…

* Setting up a parallel business so people think they are buying from a trusted company but they are actually giving money to a criminal operation who will not honor the purchase.

* Setting up an alternate business to hurt the original owner of the domain. For example, if someone is disgruntled at their local bank because they got turned down for a loan, if they can cyber squat on the bank’s domain name, they can create an “I hate XYZ bank” web site to hurt the bank’s credibility with their good customers.

* Jumping in during the short period of time when the domain name needs to be renewed and gaining ownership over it. Domain names are generally for a specified period of time of a year, three years, etc. So if you don’t pay your renewal, that name can become the property of someone else. If a cyber squatter steals that name away during the renewal period, they can hold you hostage to get that valuable name back.

There are even notable cases where criminals divert traffic to pornography sites by cyber squatting on a legitimate business site. Another clever ploy of cyber squatters is to purchase your exact same domain name with a different extension. So if you own joesmodernart.com, a cyber squatter might buy joesmodernart.net, joesmodernart.biz, joesmodernart.gov and any of the other popular extensions. By building a site out there under your domain name with an alternate extension, they can draw traffic to that bogus site and hijack your visitors, the traffic you would be getting and maybe even the revenue from sales that you can expect because your web site is well known for quality goods or services.

This problem has become so wide spread that congress has stepped in and put some laws on the books to help out legitimate web site owners. The strongest law on the books is called the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act or the ACPA for short. This law gives you some muscle you can use to bring a lawsuit against anyone who is using cyber squatting to hijack all the hard work you have put in to build that web site.

You will need some legal help to take this law and use it to protect your rights. But like anything else, your domain name and your cyberspace “property” has a value to you. So if someone is using some internet trickery to “squat” on your domain name, it is worth your while to defend it.

The Law of Attraction has worked for many people who sought to gain financial freedom. It has helped many to experience fuller lives through better relationships. The Law of Attraction can also have a profound affect on your body.

Think first of how the Law of Attraction works. You are made up of energy and the energy you send out is positive or negative. This will depend upon whether you focus on the good things in life or the bad.

This will not only affect others, but it will affect you as well. If you want to send out positive energy, you will want to concentrate on the upbeat things in your life. One way to use the Law of Attraction to do this is visualization.

Athletes use a form of seeing what future actions will hold. This technique is called Visual Motor Rehearsal. These athletes are practicing the Law of Attraction. They can be hooked up to all kinds of monitors and then practice an athletic event in their minds.

The monitors will show that their muscles obey their thoughts even though they are not being actively used. Then, when it comes time to actually do the activity, they are very much prepared. This is the Law of Attraction.

With the Law of Attraction, you can feel the reality of your plans and dreams coming true. This can be done in the same way as the athletes do it, by visualization. This can help you with a physical task you are about to undertake.

You might be planning to climb Mt. Everest or simply swim your first lap around the pool. If you can use the Law of Attraction to visualize it and believe the results, you can make it happen. Your positive feelings about accomplishing a difficult undertaking will come back to you in the form of positive energy for you.

The Law of Attraction has also been used for healing. No one suggests that medicine should not be used. However, thought among those who lecture and write about the Law of Attraction is that the medicine can be helped immensely by the use of positive energy.

The placebo effect should prove that thinking can influence your health. If people feel good about a medicine they are being given, they will more likely be healed by it. This is true whether the medicine is a highly developed scientific formula or a sugar pill.

Some conditions require much treatment and medication. People with these conditions often get depressed or discouraged. If they can keep their focus on positive things, they have a better chance of survival. Knowing the Law of Attraction can help them to do this.

Part of using the Law of Attraction to heal is to visualize the process of getting better. As you come to believe you are getting better, it turns out that you actually do. Another way to use the Law of Attraction is to dwell on the good by surrounding yourself with things you enjoy. This will keep the focus on the positive energy.

The Law of Attraction is not only good for your wallet. It can help other aspects of your life, too. If you have a physical challenge to overcome, the Law of Attraction can help you.

The term ‘homeschooling’ basically refers to the process in which one or more children of not more than 2 families are instructed by parents or legal guardians, or a member of either household. The laws that define homeschooling vary from State to State. The legal requirements for establishing a homeschool also vary with the State.

For most children, the actual process of learning begins much before school. Many children already know their alphabets, the names of animals, colors and other more complicated stuff before they reach school. This is mostly due to the hard work of a member
of the family who has taken the time to teach the child. Homeschooling is just a natural progression from here. Instead of
sending their children to a public school, parents make their own curriculum and teach their children in ways that best suit the child. This is homeschooling, in its most simplistic form.

Before you decide to go in for homeschooling, there are certain important matters for consideration. First off, meet with parents
of other homeschoolers. Find out the pros and cons of homeschooling. Then ask yourself why you would want to adopt this
method. This is a very important aspect, as the success of the program depends on the clarity and sincerity of your purpose.

Next, it is time to consider the expenses of homeschooling. It may cost anywhere between a few hundred dollars to a few thousand
every year. More importantly, you are also effectively shutting out any job opportunity for one of the parents. It is only obvious
that one parent will have to stay at home full time to manage the homeschool. A home-based business however is a great alternative.

Are you qualified to take on homeschooling for your children? Teaching is a continuation of your own learning process. With the
advent of the internet, information is aplenty. There are various books and resources for those interested in homeschooling. Go
through the various methods of homeschooling and choose one that is most suited to you. It helps if you know what kind of learning
style your child has. Also, find out what your child feels about homeschooling before you start.

Every state has its own laws regarding homeschooling. For instance, in North Carolina, you must first file a ‘Notice of
Intent’ to start a home school. In this you have to mention if the school is a ‘Private church’ school or a ‘qualified non-public
school’. The persons providing the education are required to have at least a high school diploma. You have to maintain an annual
record of the child’s attendance and disease immunization. Every year, the child is required to undergo a standardized test. Each
student attending the eleventh grade has to take a nationally standardized test. These are the requirements in North Carolina,
but it is enough to give you a good idea of what homeschooling entails.

Homeschooling may seem like a lot of fun and freedom from the outside. However, things are seldom as simple as they seem.
Homeschooling is a lot of added responsibility and hard work. But, if successful, it will forge a strong bond of love and respect
between parent and child, while providing your child with the best form of education he needs.

With a lot of people trying out for American Idol each year it is rather obvious that only a few select people will manage to walk away with the actual title of American Idol. This is not to say that looking to win is bad, after all it could be a lot of fun, but is the real winner of American Idol the actual winner? It could always be argued after looking at the different contestants that those who are actually the “losers” of the show are in fact much more successful. With this in mind we will look at the last few seasons and see who has truly been more successful the winner or the runner up.

Season one brought Kelly Clarkson as the winner and Justin Guarini as the runner up. While Justin certainly played to the hearts of the teenage girls, in commercial terms Kelly Clarkson has been much more successful. With this in mind, it is rather clear that she has emerged as the actual winner; not only of the title, but also the success for season one.

Season two brought to the world Clay Aiken as a runner up and Ruben Studdard as the Velvet Teddy Bear that won the show. Out of the season two finalists, it is Clay Aiken that is better known in the media. After several album releases, as well as a few stints on Broadway he has created a name for himself, rather than disappearing into oblivion. Ruben Studdard on the other hand has been slowly disappearing from the public spotlight for a very long time.

Season three found both Fantasia Barrino and also Diana DeGarmo. From the two contestants Fantasia is the one with more publicity, however most of the publicity surrounding her has to do with missed performances from her Broadway show The Color Purple. Diana DeGarmo has disappeared from the spotlight completely.

Season four provided both Bo Bice and Carrie Underwood. This was a season in which the best American Idol so far actually appeared. While Bo Bice was praised as a top rocker, Carrie Underwood has emerged as a truly magnificent star in the country music field. Winning over the hearts of millions of fans, she has become truly a darling of country music and found astronomical success.
Season five provided both Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee. It is extremely important to understand that Taylor Hicks is so far the oldest contestant to actually win the show. Katharine McPhee has so far disappeared back into the cracks, aside for a bit of brief publicity that surrounded her recent wedding. Taylor Hicks himself has once again disappeared himself into cracks and is not in the public eye, nor catching much commercial success following his win.

Season six brought out the unique Blake Lewis as well as the young Jordin Sparks. So far, Jordin’s career has been rising with the incredible success of a duet with Chris Brown. Several other singles have appeared from her debut album. While she has found some good success so far, it is still unclear how successful she will be ultimately, but she has found greater success than Blake Lewis. While Blake was only a runner up for the season, he has provided a significantly different sound to the show. While most contestants are quite boring, Blake Lewis has brought a unique sound that is completely unique for the entire show.

Everybody runs around talking continuously about each season of American Idol as if it is the greatest experience ever in the world. But if you have been watching the show for a while, you are very much aware that there was 6 seasons even before the most recent. This leaves 7 seasons worth of rejected potential Idols wondering around the world trying to make a life for themselves. While some of the previous contestants have gone on to do amazing things with their careers, even more have slipped into the cracks again.

Season one was the start of something huge. Not only was there two hosts, remember Brian Dunkleman? Do not feel bad, most people have no clue who he is or that he was involved. But there was also contestants such as Justin Guarini, Kelly Clarkson, and even Tamyra Gray to mention a few it was an incredible season. The overall excitement was mounting heavily but where have these contestants actually gone? Kelly Clarkson of course emerged as the winner and is still active in the music industry. Justin Guarini has made a few television appearances, and even released a few albums but his commercial success has been significantly limited. Tamyra Gray has found to date the greatest success on television appearing in several different shows. She has also recently found success in the Broadway showing of “Rent.”

Season two started with a bang, and brought with it the former marine Josh Gracin who has gone onto win the hearts of country music lovers, Carmen Rasmusen who also released a country music album and even brought with it Kimberly Locke, Clay Aiken, and the amazing Ruben Studdard. With the talent that emerged from this season it was undeniable that the show was in full swing. Ruben went on to record several albums, while Clay Aiken has found great deals of success with both albums and even on Broadway. Others like Carmen, Josh and Kimberly are not as followed, but have still received attention following their time on the show.

Season three found contestants like Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia Barrino and the notorious William Hung who while not an actual finalist still lives on in the hearts of all true fans for what not to do at an audition. Additional treasures were found in Diana DeGarmo as well. From season three, it was rather obvious that it was a bit harder to find lasting talent. Jennifer Hudson has so far emerged as the most successful contestant of the season, and after being booted in a 7th place finish she has gone onto star in Dreamgirls with Jamie Foxx and Beyonce Knowles and even win an Academy Award for her performance. Fantasia meanwhile has grabbed headlines for her strange antics, failure to appear for performances on Broadway and less than stellar commercial success.

Season four brought out all of the bad boys of rock, with Constantine Maroulis and even Bo Bice. By bringing the two rockers to the stage, it was a shift to a different style of music, and it has been these two contestants credited with inspiring season five contestant Chris Daughtry to try out. Winning the season was Carrie Underwood, who has been an enormous success and to date the most successful American Idol winner yet. The remaining contestants from the year have managed to slip back into the background with only occasional news stories, such as Vonzell Solomon the third place contestant arrested for a handgun at an airport.

When designing a curriculum for home schooled teenagers, parents cooperate with their teens and plan the school year together.  Some parents prefer the traditional, text book driven curriculum, especially during the high school years because it opens up options for diplomas and college preparatory courses.  A structured curriculum is not the only way to earn a diploma when home schooling.  Other parents and teenagers prefer the interest driven curriculum, where teenagers are motivated to learn interesting subjects and apply it to the curriculum.

For college admissions, there are core courses that should be taken.  English, math, science, and social studies should be worked on each year.  Health, language, and fine arts are another batch of classes that should be included each academic year.  This ensures a well rounded individual who has learned the essentials for the age level.

Parents should not be discouraged to pursue the interest driven approach while still completing the same college preparatory high school curriculum.  Reading and writing is an essential part to communication, which is vital in society.  Most homeschoolers read plenty of books and visit the library often; on average, home school students read many more books than the institutionalized student.  After each book, the student writes an essay, and spelling lists are derived from misspelled words.

When it comes to math, home schoolers use real life math problems, such as consumer math, statistics, gaming and probability, recreational math, mental math, math history, and especially bookkeeping.  Some students use math programs on the computer or Internet.  With math, the repetitive practicing of problems is the only way to learn.

Science can be found anywhere, without a formal lab.  Home schoolers visit hospitals, rivers, volcanoes (if they are lucky!), and any work place.  Many attend camps and field trips and learn biology, botany and astronomy.  When home schooling, students are open to so many more fields of interest such as:  meteorology, paleontology, nutrition, health, equine science, herpetology, nature studies, engineering, physiology, and even psychology.  This is why most home schooled students do not stick to a boring, limited textbook curriculum.

Most of the high school years are spent preparing for college and discovering passions for future careers.  This is a time when most home schoolers do not follow a textbook driven curriculum.  Most home schoolers learn by interest driven curriculum and some students even become experts in their field.

There are diploma programs for home schoolers, which are equivalent to an institutionalized curriculum.  But that is not the only option to provide learning.  Many home schooled teens use selected correspondence courses in specific areas of interest, or take classes at community colleges, or use community education programs, home school cooperatives, or online classes on the Internet.  Students have the opportunity to pursue what they enjoy, which usually involves extra training with a mentor or tutor, or special courses.  There are advance placement courses online or by mail, county immediate school district programs, or private classes, the learning options are endless.

Teenagers should really focus their energies on schoolwork, excellent grades (and grade point average) and the direction they wish to take for a career.  If a student is interested in pursuing a college degree, he/she should practice and prepare to take PSAT, SAT, and ACT.  Some home schooled students get college credits for taking CLEP (College Level Examination Program) courses.  Colleges are seeking students who are well rounded, who have a desire to learn and be a part of the community, and who excel in textbook studies.

Parents who home school their teenagers cannot teach them everything they are interested in learning.  For instance, a student who is passionate about flying and aviation probably doesn’t have parents who are experts in this field.  Mentorships, apprenticeships, and on the job training are necessary to better learn a skill or trade that is not found only in a textbook.  Experience is more valuable than textbook memorization of subjects.

Home schooling a teenager is much different than home schooling a younger child.  Teenagers usually know what they enjoy learning about and have a goal in mind about what they would like to do as a career.  Home school is a great way to enhance and explore specific areas of expertise.  Teenagers usually plan out their own curriculum and document their own record keeping, which teaches accountability.  Most teens are capable of self study and self monitoring; they usually know where their strengths and weaknesses lie.

Teenagers should be making decisions on what they plan to do after school.  They may plan on going to college, military, community college, or maybe something else.  College is just one option.  Interest, passions, hobbies, past times can all be turned into a career.  A parent should research career options with your teenager by their gut feelings and instincts and nothing else.  Do not let anything else get in the way of an intense passion that your child holds.  Even if it is something you think will not make enough income, it is a passion.  When someone does what they love, money comes.

This is a time during home school years that a parent may wonder if they can keep their children at home.  Parents need to find out about diploma options.  Some home schooled teenagers receive a GED, which stands for general education development, and is equivalent to a high school diploma.  Parents may also research about college preparatory curriculums and classes that may supplement their home studies.

During these teenage years, it is crucial to include the student in as many extracurricular activities as possible.  Some activities may include:  sports, working in a family business, self-employment, tutoring, community memberships, local arts productions, etc.  Keep good documentation of awards, essays, interviews, and recommendations for future college requirements.
